I have to start dressing better

I wore a skirt on the first day of class, and once last week for some "meet the parents" thing. Everyone on my floor is like"Wow! You look nice!". Uh, thanks. Perhaps with not so much surprise next time?

Or perhaps this means I should abandon the "I'm wearing jeans because I have lab today" look. Which, truth be told, happens much more often than lab does.

In the beginning....

It's about 36 hours before the beginning of my academic year, so what better thing to do than start a blog instead of working on syllabi? Seriously, Dr. H(usband, also academic) is currently at his campus finishing his; I'm home with the twins. Tomorrow, we reverse.

Dr. Crazy's post on what to do on the first day has generated a lot of discussion. I'm going to start my non-science-majors class with a story, rather than a "Hi, I'm Professor Twice Tenured, This is PhysChemBio 101". Will this freak out the freshman? I guess I'll find out on Monday.
