Two rounds of chemo down and the tumors are shrinking. Everyone is as optimistic as they can be. For this stage, the news is excellent.
Also, mom is thrilled the new chemo agent doesn't cause hair loss like the one it replaced.

RBoC in Pictures
- The garden is in bloom:

- Cats are cute:

- We have a lot of weeds.
- Dr. H. thought he wasn't allergic to poison ivy. He was wrong.

(The picture is from a week and half later, a few of those days with prescription steroids.) - Ugh, just ugh.

- Fun in lab:

Different Reactions
Recently, I found I was not so happy about this business:
So I did this:
Now, dying my hair is not unusual, having started going gray at 20. But, being short on time and vanity, I usually do this only on semester breaks. I missed my usual before the term window and found myself with a block of time in the middle of the week.
My honor's class, consisting of mostly freshman women:
"Your hair looks cute!"
My major's class, consisting of mostly junior-senior men:
"Whoa! Did you DYE your hair!?"

Scenes from Breakfast on the Road
cholesterol (noun): a compound of the steroid type which occurs normally in most body tissues and is believed to promote atherosclerosis. From Greek khole ‘bile’ + stereos ‘stiff’.
sucrose (noun): table sugar, a disaccharide of glucose and fructose found in many plants, including sugar maples. From French sucre "sugar"

.
Dalton: Is this maple syrup?
Me: Yes, Dalton.
Dalton: (picks up container) I'm going to put it on my eggs!
Me: Uh...
Dalton: Yeah! (pours on eggs)
Curie: What's this, Mommy? (holds up small container)
Me: That is butter.
Curie: Oh! It's butter to dip my bacon in! (demonstrates)

Maximizing Face Time
The one person in my department who cares about face time is on vacation. Dr. H and I are seizing the opportunity to see his grandparents before the term starts.
The bad news: this involves 12+ hours of driving (one way), the last time I checked I had two three year olds, and now I also have a UTI, something I'm quite certain is not conducive to having a pleasurable road trip.
The good news: I have a prescription for antibiotics and Pyridium (Orange pee. Pain relief in 20 minutes. What's not to like?).
